David had a small and oddly-shaped space to work with but thanks to N scale we got a lot in. Not seen offstage to the right is a pool table; and there had to be enough "cue room" not to risk unfortunate incidents mixing bank shots and trains.
The detail about needing enough cue room so bank shots and trains don't collide is a great reminder that layout design often starts with the room, not the track plan. In a small, oddly-shaped space, how did you decide which scenes or industries were essential versus optional? I'm curious whether the N scale choice came first or was a response to the limited footprint, since that trade-off shapes so much of what can fit.
